Eligibility
and what to expect
PSYCHIATRY
Who is eligible to receive psychiatric care through Nuvirtis?
Nuvirtis offers psychiatry/medication management services nationwide to teens and adults aged 13 and up.
What can I expect from my first appointment?
During your initial session, you’ll meet with a highly-qualified psychiatric provider over live video to discuss your medical history, individual concerns and goals for treatment. Initial intake appointments typically last an hour, your provider will create a detailed written report containing a clinical diagnosis where appropriate, alongside a tailored treatment plan which may consist of talk therapy, medication or a combination of both.
What is a personalized treatment plan?
Your personalized treatment plan is tailored around your needs and goals for treatment. Your individual plan may include follow-ups recommended by your provider, a suggested frequency of appointments, an overview of prescribed medications (if applicable), and any referrals to other forms of mental or behavioral health care.
What's the difference between therapy and psychiatry?
Therapy and psychiatry are both provided by highly trained mental health professionals. However, psychiatry may involve treatment through prescription medications – whereas therapy is focused on helping you process the challenges you’re facing through other methods, such as talk therapy.
Can I combine therapy and psychiatry?
Research shows that the combination of talk therapy and prescription medications can result in significantly better outcomes in the treatment of many common conditions. Whether you start with therapy, psychiatry, or both, Nuvirtis makes it easy to expand your care team.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you do not need a referral from your GP to book an appointment with Nuvirtis. You can access care directly, and we’ll guide you every step of the way to make the process simple and stress-free.
and reporting
Who will carry out my psychiatric evaluation?

What's included in my evaluation/report?
Your report includes a summary of your psychiatric assessment, covering your medical and mental health history, current symptoms, and a clinical diagnosis where applicible. It also includes clear recommendations and next steps to support your care and help you better understand your options.
How do I know if I should see a psychiatrist?
You should consider seeing a psychiatrist if you’re experiencing changes in mood, thoughts, or behavior that are affecting your daily life, work, or relationships. This can include persistent sadness, anxiety, difficulty concentrating, extreme stress, or any thoughts of harming yourself. A psychiatrist can provide a thorough assessment, guidance, and treatment options to help you manage your mental health effectively.
